What Is the Story of Alice in Borderland?
A college dropout who spends his days playing video games, Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) is derided as a loser by his family and Japanese society. He gets into trouble in downtown Tokyo one day with his companions, womanizer Karube (Yuki Morinaga) and IT guy Chota (Keita Machida), and they are eventually herded into a subway bathroom by the police. However, they discover the city to be entirely uninhabited when the coast appears to be clear once more.
Streets and subway stops that are deserted. Only neon lights in gloomy Tokyo can guide them to high-stakes games where the participants’ lives are on the line. Refusal to cooperate results in a swift death caused by laser beams that may suddenly appear in the sky. Arisu and his companions wonder how far they would go to survive as the difficulty level rises with each game when they run against other players like extreme mountaineer Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) throughout the series.
