A Japanese anime television series created by Sunrise is known as Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion or simply Code Geass. Ichir Kouchi wrote the script under Gor Taniguchi’s direction, and Clamp created the original character designs. It centers on the exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia, who receives the “power of ultimate obedience” from an enigmatic character dubbed C.C. in an alternate reality. He leads an uprising against the government of the Holy Britannian Empire while orchestrating a string of mecha fights using this supernatural ability known as Geass.
Lelouch and Nunnally are brought to Japan as political pawns to deceive the Japanese government into believing that everything is under control. After the twins are delivered to Japan, Britannia attacks and decimates Japan. Lelouch promises his Japanese friend Suzaku Kururugi that he will one day destroy Britannia as a form of retaliation against his father while picturing the ruins of Japan in the backdrop.
